FAIRMONTCOW Finale Event at The Fairmont Palliser

LOCAL SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN GOES GLOBAL IN SUPPORT OF RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE® SOUTHERN ALBERTA

This coming Tuesday, Nov 19, from 4 to 6 p.m The Fairmont Palliser will host a silent auction of FairmontCows (currently on display and up for bid in hotel lobby) will come to an end in an intimate special event made open/free to the public. Guests to have opportunity to outbid and win the cows with their added experiences (weekend night’s stay at The Fairmont Palliser, tickets to Royal Winnipeg Ballets’ opening night of Romeo + Juliet etc.) The public will also have a meet-and-greet with the cow wranglers and an ability to check-out the showcase of each of the cows’ journeys in a large electronic display of photographs.

About: It was a summer filled with colourful Tweets and Facebook posts surrounding the hashtag, #FairmontCows as five decorative art cows from the hotel travel the world with five of Calgary’s top social media personalities/ philanthropists/ bloggers as symbols of the city’s famous Western Hospitality. The Fairmont Palliser let cows loose following the devastating floods in the month of June which affected the property through a loss of power and closing its doors for the first time in 99 years for a period of eight days. The campaign was to spread the message that hotel doors were open and it was ready to welcome the world. The cows returned home having experienced dozens of special moments; from meeting a Top World Supermodel, Coco Rocha at New York Fashion Week, to surfing the beaches of Bali, to climbing one of the world’s highest mountains, Kilimanjaro. The cows and their added auction experiences are currently on display in the hotel lobby and up for bids to raise funds for sick kids and their families.

“Every moment with the cow was special.  No matter where he went or who he met, it was an opportunity to share my western hospitality and spread the great work that is being done by the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta!” – Ryan Massel.

“My favorite moment with the cow was really the entire #FairmontCow experience. Whether I was traveling to fashion shows, to cover story for my blog, or hosting live events on stage, my Fairmont cow had became my companion. It’s like a part of the Fairmont spirit is following me wherever I go. During the time I travel, the cow became very much like a family member. I am going to miss it once it’s returned to its rightful owner.” – Vincent Law.

“My highlight was getting the opportunity to travel to the Fairmont Monte Carlo and Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland. They were aware of the campaign and were excited to host us.” – Lynnette MacDonald

“Although Sally did not travel across the globe like some of the other cows, she had a blast in Calgary. It's nice to see that Fairmonts across the world were all not only acceptive of the fun #FairmontCow campaign, but also happy to host the traveling livestock.” – Dan Clapson
