PARKLUXE 2014

This past Saturday, Gar&Mann:L was invited to PARKLUXE 2014. This years venue took place at the Riverwalk Plaze located in the East Village. This year, a total of six designers showcased their Fall/Winter 2014 collection; Caitlin Power, WORKHALL by Nicole Campre, Laura Siegel, Paul Hardy, Malorie Urbanovitch and Toronto based designer Matthew Gallagher presented by the Cayman Islands. An interactive installation by Dayna Ellen and performance artist Natalie Lauchlan, was place at the entrance as an introduction to PARKLUXE 2014. At the VIP lounge I had a little chat with Caitlin Power, who is known for her high-end tailoring and sleek silhouettes. The Fall/Winter 2014 collection is inspired by the movie Men of Steel. Using neoprene for dress and skirt to create a more structured look, the fabric tightens around the body and accentuates one's curves. She also has been spending some time in New York to expand her label into America, for sure you will be hearing more from the POWERWOMEN very soon. Matthew Gallagher, who is new to Calgary showcased his Fall/Winter 2014 collection. The collection is inspired by an old photo of Gallagher's great-great-great grandmother dressed in Victorian style. The Milan-trained designer made his debut in fall 2013 with his luxury made-to-measure womenswear. All the fabric are hand picked and imported from Italy each season to ensure quality. Some of the designers will also be showcasing their Spring/Summer 2015 collection at the World Mastercard Fashion Week, be sure to stay tuned for their new collection.

The night was intimate, guests were able to interact with designers who had set up their pop-up shop around the venue. And the night view beside bow-river was absolutely breathtaking. Congrats to another successful year for PARKLUXE. Now, if you are following PARK on their media you probably notice their announcement for Parkshow Edmonton and PARKLUXE Saskatoon. If not?
