On May 23rd 2015, PARK hosted its eighth installment of PARKSHOW 2015 presented by Chinook Centre. Each year, PARK challenges to provide its audience with a one of a kind experience. PARKSHOW 2015 took place in Chinook Centre's North underground parkade, bringing the coastline to Calgary through an underground parking lot experience. At the entrance, guests are welcome by entering a surreal, ocean inspired installation by featured artist Jennie Vallis. Ten handpicked Canadian designers showcased their Spring/Summer 2015 collections including headliner Eliza Faulkner (Vancouver), along with Bano eeMee (Calgary), SP Badu (Calgary), Vivian Lee (Toronto/Calgary), LUXX RTW (Edmonton), Suka (Edmonton), Coutu Kitsch (Calgary), Lennard Taylor (Winnipeg), 6 Streets (Calgary), Forge Apparel (Calgary), as well as several Canadian Chinook Centre retailers.
This year's Parkshow is definitely one of the longest show I have seen, featuring about ten designers including couple Canadian retailers. Over 700 guests attended PARKSHOW 2015. The atmosphere is quite interesting, felt a little mysterious compare to previous year's Parkshow. As I was walking through the art installation at the entrance, I wasn't sure what to expect. The runway is set in the middle of the parkade with an active projection at the end. Similar as before, pop-up shops were set up around the runway for guest to have a chance to shop the collections presented during the show. It was nice to see many familiar faces and being able to chat up with some friends. A special thanks to Lauren Bagliore for my outfit of the night. Her new concept store is now open, visit her website here for location and more. Each year, PARK tried to surprise us with a new venue. I wonder what would be next. PARK's annual summer sale event is now accepting vendors, visit their website for details.
